Blood Testing Notice
NHS England has told primary care and Community Care to halt all blood testing until 17 September except for clinically urgent testing. This is due to the global supply disruption to blood bottles. Examples of clinically urgent testing include:
- Bloods that are required to facilitate a two week wait referral
- Bloods that if taken could avoid a hospital Admission or prevent an onward referral
- Those with suspected sepsis or conditions with a risk of death or disability.
Important Notice 17/5/2021
You may have seen in the media that "Patients have won the right to Face to Face appointments". We at Newbury Group Practice would like to assure our patients that we have always been, and will continue to offer, face to face appointments for patients where required.
Due to the nature of the pandemic we have had to limit access to the practice in order to make the building 'covid secure' a waiting room that could previously hold 30 + patients can now only hold 9 if they are to socially distance properly. We also have a duty of care to protect not only our staff, but patients who may be more vulnerable to the consequences of catching covid.
We are aware that although restrictions are easing in England from 17th May 21, there are still increases in infection rates in certain strains of the virus.
NHS England have not yet released any guidance to practices on what is required to manage this risk, and until such guidance is issued the practice will continue to operate as it has been.
We are currently encouraging patients to phone the practice or contact us via e-consult (on our website) in the first instance rather than just walk in, and patients will be triaged by a member of the clinical team.
Face to face appointments will continue to be offered where required.
We thank you for your continued support

We are a group practice working from a purpose-built health c
entre which has easy access for the disabled and ample parking.
The building also houses other Primary Care Trust services such as district nursing, health visiting, midwifery, physiotherapy, speech therapy and podiatry. This provides an ideal basis for a primary health care team approach to problems.
The practice is dedicated to providing a high level of medical care for our patients. We continuously strive to improve our services by encouraging staff attendance on update courses, organising in-house teaching sessions and audits for all staff.
The practice is within the Redbridge Primary Care Trust area.
